New Project Proposals:

Preliminary proposals (1-3 pages) for new projects are due May 31.

Include:

  1. Title of project
  2. Name and affiliation
  3. Problem identification
  4. Objectives
  5. Potential gain/benefits
  6. Need for inter-disciplinary involvement
  7. Anticipated budget

Pre-proposals will be reviewed by the MOFEP Steering Committee and returned to principal investigators by July 15. At this time we will tell you whether your proposal will be considered for funding.

Full proposal for considered new projects are due October 15.

Include:

  1. Title of project
  2. Objectives (hypotheses to test)
  3. Need (specific problem defined,state-of-knowledge on topic, etc.)
  4. Expected benefits
  5. Approach (experimental design, data collection techniques, study area locations)
  6. Analysis (data summaries, tabulation, statistical tests)
  7. Budget (equipment, personnel, expenses)
  8. Principal investigator(s)
  9. Cooperators/potential for collaboration with existing projects
  10. Potential outside funding sources
  11. Schedule and duration

Proposals:

Updated proposals for existing projects due October 31.

Include:

  1. Title of project
  2. Name and affiliation
  3. Problem identification
  4. Objectives
  5. Additions/deletions from original proposal
  6. Work schedule for next fiscal year (July 1-June 30)

Data:

Data collected each field season is due November 30, along with complete metadata describing the data and how it was collected. Data and metadata will be submitted directly to the MOFEP Web site. Data can be submitted in ASCII space or character delimited text files, or in dBase or Access files. Publishing:

We recommend the following protocol.

The Missouri Department of Conservation, as the funding agency, has the right to publish data, if the principal investigator has not yet done so, three years after completing the final report or ten years following project inception.

It is the responsibility of each principal investigator to contact others when they desire to collaborate on a publication. Authorship of collaborated publications should be mutually decided upon by those involved.

The Missouri Department of Conservation will receive a copy of all published papers regarding the MOFEP study, and should be recognized as a major contributor on the project.

Annual Meetings:

The annual meeting will be in early November each year. Presentations should focus on summarizing your reports.

Annual Reports:

Due November 1 for all MOFEP studies.

Report Format:

  1. Title
  2. Author(s)
  3. Abstract
  4. Introduction
  5. Methods
    1. Sites
    2. Instrumentation
    3. Sampling
    4. Chemical analysis
    5. Etc., etc.
  6. Results and Discussion (separate if you desire)
  7. Conclusions
  8. Literature citations

This report should be of publishable quality and should focus on all of your previous seasons. These reports will be distributed at the annual meeting. These reports satisfy contract requirements with universities. A thesis or dissertation will not replace the November 1 report.
